Set up in this order
- Create the shop and set its language, currency display and timezone behaviour
- Add your branches — even a single-branch shop has one, and stock and tills belong to it
- Set the operating model: work mode, optional test stages, warranty defaults, close-out cut-off
- Invite staff and assign each a role
- Add issue categories and, if you hold stock, your parts and retail catalog
- Open the cash drawer for today, then book the first job
The onboarding checklist
A checklist in the app tracks the setup steps that are still outstanding and links straight to the screen for each. It is the fastest route through first-time configuration, and it is worth clearing completely — the items on it are the ones that cause confusing behaviour when left unset.
Booking the first job
A job needs a customer, a device, at least one reported issue, and a promised date. Price is optional if you take the device in as a diagnostic and quote after examining it.
Take intake photos while the customer is still at the counter. They attach to the job and are the standard defence against a later claim that the shop caused existing damage.
Frequently asked questions
- What do I need to configure before booking the first job?
- At minimum: the shop, one branch, the close-out cut-off time that defines your business day, and at least one issue category. Staff accounts and the parts catalog can be added as you go, but the close-out cut-off should be right before your first day's trading because it determines which business day takings belong to.
- Do I need to set up branches if I only have one shop?
- Yes. Stock, cash drawer sessions, staff and close-outs all belong to a branch, so a single-location shop still has one branch record. It takes a moment and means adding a second location later requires no restructuring.
More in getting started
- Shop settings and operating model
Horus Repair carries more than twenty operating-model switches, so one codebase fits a one-person kiosk and a four-branch chain without either being forced into the other's workflow.
- Roles and permissions
Four roles. Money is manager and above, frontline roles are lateral rather than ranked, and user management is owner-only.
