The four roles
| Role | Scope | Money surfaces | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Owner | The whole business, all branches | Full access | Only role that can manage users and roles |
| Manager | Their assigned branch or branches | Full access within scope | Can open and close cash drawers |
| Technician | Their own and unassigned jobs | Job-level prices only | Works jobs and operations, not sales |
| Salesrep | Retail sales | Job-level prices only | Works sales, not jobs or operations |
Technician and salesrep are lateral frontline roles, not a hierarchy — neither is a superset of the other. Technicians get jobs and operations, salesreps get sales, and everything else at frontline level (customers, devices, inventory, notifications) is shared between them.
What is restricted
- Finance, vendors, reports and technician ledgers are manager and above
- Opening and closing a cash drawer is manager and above
- Managing users and assigning roles is owner only
- Technicians can consume stock on their own jobs; every other inventory mutation is manager and above
- Issue categories are manager and above; accessories can be handled by any role
Roles and pay are separate
Anyone can carry a compensation and attendance record regardless of role — managers and salesreps included. In a small shop the manager also repairs devices, and pay should not depend on which role label they were given.
Frequently asked questions
- What roles does Horus Repair support?
- Four: owner, manager, technician and salesrep. Owners see the whole business and are the only role that can manage users. Managers are scoped to their branches and can open and close cash drawers. Technician and salesrep are lateral frontline roles — technicians work jobs and operations, salesreps work sales, and neither ranks above the other.
- Can technicians see the shop's finances?
- No. Finance, vendors, reports and technician ledgers are restricted to managers and owners. Technicians do see prices at the job level, since they need them to do the work, but not the shop's revenue, margin or cash position.
- Can a manager see other branches?
- Only the branches they are assigned to. A manager's view of jobs, stock, staff and takings is scoped to their own branches. Cross-branch visibility is the owner's.
