Staff Notifications & Daily Alerts

Two kinds of alert: something just happened, and something should have happened by now but did not. The second kind is the one that catches problems.

Event alerts, as they happen

Staff get an in-app notification bell that updates in real time. Some notifications broadcast to everyone at a branch, others target one person.

  • A new job was booked in
  • A job was edited after being created
  • A sale was completed, or a sale was voided
  • A technician requested a salary advance, and whether it was approved
  • The till came up short or over at close

Staff can opt into web push so alerts reach their device with the app closed. This works fully on Android and desktop. On iPhone it requires the site to be installed to the home screen first, on iOS 16.4 or later — an Apple platform restriction that no web application can work around.

The daily pass: what did not happen

A scheduled job runs several times a day and looks for absences rather than events. Absences are what quietly cost a shop money, because nothing happens to draw attention to them.

AlertFires when
Low stockA part or accessory is at or below its threshold
Payment overdueAn unsettled receivable passes fourteen days
Clock-in missedStaff are past their shift start by thirty minutes with no clock-in, on a day that is not a day off
Drawer not openedA branch is past its opening time with no drawer session open
Drawer not closedA branch is past its close-out cut-off with the till still open

Each alert is deduplicated against a stamp on the record, so an overdue invoice raises one alert rather than one per run, and resets when the underlying condition clears.

Frequently asked questions

Do staff notifications work when the app is closed?
Yes, if staff opt into web push. Push works fully on Android and desktop browsers. On iPhone the site must first be installed to the home screen and be running iOS 16.4 or later, which is an Apple restriction that applies to every web application. The in-app notification bell always works regardless of device.
What alerts does Horus Repair send automatically?
Event alerts cover new jobs, job edits, completed and voided sales, salary advance requests and decisions, and cash discrepancies at till close. A scheduled daily pass adds low stock, receivables overdue past fourteen days, missed clock-ins, and branches that did not open or close their drawer.
Will I get the same alert every day until I deal with it?
No. Each scheduled alert is deduplicated against a stamp on the underlying record, so it fires once when the condition starts and resets when the condition clears. A part that sits below its threshold for a week produces one alert, not seven.
Who receives cash discrepancy alerts?
The owner and the managers in scope for that branch, excluding whoever performed the close. Alerts fire when the till is over as well as short.

  • Technicians, Attendance & Payroll

Commission is calculated on money actually collected, not money invoiced — a small schema decision with large consequences for whether technicians believe the number.

  • Customer Updates & Job Tracking

The sharpest promise this product makes is that the phone stops ringing — customers get told when something changes, and can check the job themselves without calling.
