Customer Updates & Job Tracking

The sharpest promise this product makes is that the phone stops ringing — customers get told when something changes, and can check the job themselves without calling.

WhatsApp updates at every status change

In Egypt, customers are reached on WhatsApp. When a job changes status, Horus Repair composes the message — in Egyptian Arabic, with the job details and the tracking link already filled in — and the operator taps to send it.

Be clear about the mechanism, because it differs from most competitors: the app opens WhatsApp with the message prepared. It is not an SMS gateway and there is no separate messaging bill. Shops that want less friction can turn on automatic sending; shops that want a human to read every message before it goes out can leave it off.

Messaging is consent-gated. Each customer carries a contact consent state and a preferred channel, and the shop sets quiet hours. A customer who has opted out is not messaged at all — that binds staff pressing send, not just the automatic path — while quiet hours restrain only automatic sending, so a person can still reply to someone who contacted them at night. Customers on file before consent capture existed keep working exactly as before, so switching this on takes nothing away.

A tracking page the customer does not need an account for

Every job has a public status page. The customer opens the link and enters the phone number the job was booked under, which gates access without asking them to create an account — nobody sets up a login to check whether their phone is fixed.

  • A short tracking link, sized to sit neatly inside a WhatsApp message
  • A QR code printed on the job receipt that opens the same page
  • Current status and the promised date, without exposing internal notes or costs
  • A Google review link appended at pickup, for shops that supply one

To be exact about what this is not: there is no customer login and no self-service account with a stored service history. Access is by job link plus the phone number on the job.

Warranty the customer can be held to

Warranty terms are captured on the job at the time of the repair, not looked up afterwards from a policy that may since have changed. When a device comes back, the claim workflow records the failure cause, which over time answers the questions that matter: which parts fail, which repairs get redone, and which supplier is the reason.

Frequently asked questions

How do customers get told their repair is ready?
Horus Repair drafts a WhatsApp message on every job status change, in Egyptian Arabic, prefilled with the job details and a tracking link. The operator taps to send, or the shop can enable automatic sending. Customers can also check the job themselves on a status page without contacting the shop.
Do customers need an account to track their repair?
No. The customer opens the tracking link from their message or scans the QR code on their receipt, then enters the phone number the job was booked under. There is no customer login to create and no password to remember.
Does Horus Repair send SMS messages?
No. Customer updates go over WhatsApp, which is where Egyptian customers actually are. The app prepares the message and opens WhatsApp to send it, so there is no SMS gateway to configure and no per-message messaging bill.
Can customers see the internal cost or notes on their job?
No. The public status page shows the job's current status and the promised date. Internal notes, part costs and margin stay inside the shop's own screens.
Can a customer opt out of messages, and are there quiet hours?
Yes to both. Each customer record carries a contact consent state and a preferred channel, and the shop configures quiet hours. An opt-out blocks messaging entirely, including a staff member pressing send by hand — not just the automatic path. Quiet hours restrain only automatic sending, so staff can still reply to a customer who messaged them late. Customers already on file when consent capture was introduced keep behaving as before, so enabling it removes nothing.

A repair ticket in Horus Repair carries the customer, the device, every reported fault, the agreed price and the promised date — and records every change to it in a timeline nobody can edit after the fact.

  • Staff Notifications & Daily Alerts

Two kinds of alert: something just happened, and something should have happened by now but did not. The second kind is the one that catches problems.
